'Marley and Me' Review
Marley and Me is based on the bestselling memoir by journalist John Grogan. Like the book, the film accounts the tale of a misbehaved, yet loyal and lovable labrodor retreiver, Marley.
The on screen version boasts a cast led by Owen Wilson and Jennifer Anniston. Although at times the on-screenchemistry between them is not as good as you might hope, both are resonably good in their role and for most part has the audience emphasing with the ups and downs of married life and pet ownership.
The film has some memorable moments, both humerous and sad. Dog lover in particular will find Marleys antics highly entertaining. And fans of the book will enjoy seeing some of their favourite moments come to life.
The main theme of both the film and the book is that life is short and precious and you must make the most of it while you can. However the book makes this point better. Nor does the film mannage to match the humour and sentiment of the detailed and loving recounts found in Grogan's book. However it is still an enjoyable film, if not quite as memorable as the book.
